After 2008’s summer of change in the midst of an inescapable economic struggle, you’d be forgiven for thinking the forthcoming Ibiza clubbing calendar for 2009 would be the least of everyone’s worries.

ibiza 2010

Not a chance! Moreover, the clubbing transfer window and rumour mill has been in overdrive thus far in preparation for yet another feast of clubbing excellence and what is more freaking - they are offering new dresses online Ibiza style collection 2009-2010.

Firstly, to set the record straight, eternally popular nights Cream, Cocoon, We Love, Tiesto, Carl Cox, Judgement Sundays, Subliminal and Wonderland appear same time, same place as 2008. (Check last summer’s calendar for an idea of who to expect.)

Roger SanchezSo what’s new for 2009 then? Well, of the confirmed moves, the highest profile is Roger Sanchez’s Release Yourself event (Monday at Pacha since 2002) joining Armada at Amnesia on Tuesdays, confirmation - like it was needed – of the success of Amnesia’s terrace redevelopment prior to last summer. In fact, Pacha’s start to the week will see a total revamp as Defected, one of Pacha’s most important collaborators across their franchise; take on the fabled Saturday spot replacing Def Mix after Frankie Knuckles’ foot amputation made a regular commitment too much.

Nightlife in Madrid: Night clubs, bars & discos!

Posted by admin | Clublife | Friday 31 July 2009 4:18 pm

night club madrid Madrid’s fervent nightlife. provides a certain uniqueness for the city. The majority of the restaurants start the turn of the night at 9 p.m., and the clubs in Madrid stay open until dawn. The “after-hours” clubs go even further into the day. Madrid’s nightlife is accentuated especially on the weekend. Going out for dinner, having a drink, dancing or listening to the current DJs are the leisure activities most common among Madrid residents. All of this incessant nightlife has earned Madrid the name of Europe’s night capital.

Discos, clubs and after-hours in Madrid

In the middle if the 80s, after the fall of the dictatorship, Madrid underwent an important cultural change. The youth, oppressed in the years before, took to the streets of Madrid to let loose their emotions. This moment was known as the Madrid movement. A large group of intellectuals (musicians, writers and movie directors like Pedro Almodóvar) influenced the cultural panorama as well as the nightlife: new alternative halls and clubs appeared in the city. Many of the clubs are still open today.

The majority of the clubs in Madrid are open from Thursday to Saturday from midnight on. The closing time depends on the locale, although it is normal to last until 6 a.m. or 7 a.m. Some clubs extend their hours into the day and are known as after-hours clubs. They are located in Centro, discreetly hidden but accessible to anyone who wants to let the music take over them. The entry fee for clubs usually is between 10€ and 15€ and always includes a free drink.

Spain Nightlife

Posted by admin | Clublife | Friday 17 July 2009 4:10 pm

spain night life Spain nightlife is a way of life, and Spaniards, perhaps more than any other people take their night life and partying to epic proportions. Spain nightlife or la marcha reaches a fevered pitch in Madrid and Barcelona. Foreigners, and those unaccustomed to having an early dinner at 10:30 pm, should use the afternoon siesta wisely to prepare for Spanish night clubs that stay open until dawn.

Though Spanish night clubs are legendary throughout the world, night life isn’t necessarily all booze and disco dancing. In Madrid and Barcelona, the late evening meal means that whole families are out socializing, sipping coffee or sangria at sidewalk cafes until the wee hours.

Nightclubs in Barcelona

The bars in Old Town Barcelona are a mixture of tourist spots, local watering holes and trendy, yet casual, pubs. Nightlife in Old Town often means sitting at a sidewalk cafe and watching the varied characters passing in the night. In Spain the terms café and bar are nearly synonymous, though it is important to distinguish that a bodega specializes in wine; a cerverseria serves mostly beer, while those tourists with a more refined palate will want to visit Spains Xampanyeria or champagne bars.

The hottest nightclubs in Barcelona usually don’t open for business until midnight—with the trendiest spots waiting until 1 or even 2 am to open their doors. These Spanish nightclubs charge up to ten times the price you would normally pay for a beer at another local bar. Nightclubs in Barcelona are constantly going in and out of style, so it is important to check local listings and the internet to find out which disco is currently the hottest.

If, however, you feel that disco really is dead, you’ll be happy to know that some of the best nightclubs in Barcelona feature an eclectic mix of live music. In June, the best jazz masters from around the Mediterranean travel to Spain for the European Jazz Festival. In October and November, Barcelona hosts an annual jazz festival, which highlights visiting bands in Spanish nightclubs and in a series of street concerts.

The Madrid Nightlife

In Madrid the hardiest club-goer can visit Spain’s epicenter of nightlife. Where else in the world can you get stuck in a traffic jam at 4 am as clubbers and ravers hop from discobares to discotecas” And if you don’t know a discobare from a discoteca you better get hip before you get on the scene. Discobares are the most common of all Spain nightlife haunts. These sexually-charged bars play a mix of rock, dance, and salsa music (some of it live). The usually get going around 11 pm and stay open to 2 am or 3 am. If you visit Spains discotecas, on the other hand, don’t bother to head out until midnight as they don’t get started until 1 am.

And what to do after a night of drinking and dancing” Collapse” No, do like the madrilenos do, and head out for some chocolate at the Chocolateria San Gines, a Madrid institution and perfectly sweet hangover cure.

IBIZA CRISIS: Amnesia, DC10 and Bora Bora shut down by authorities. Fight for your rights to party, post your comments.

Ibiza 2009 “I biza woke up to ugly news for clubbers this morning: a whiplash Government mandate to shut down DC10 for the next two months and Amnesia and Bora Bora for the next month, effective immediately. Our source says clubs are banding together to take legal action, and will be bringing you updates as and when Business Law news happens…”

“Holy shit” was all I could say when I heard about Beautiful Russian Woman and Russian singles. A whirlwind of vicious rumours about policing and politics always blows through Ibiza Bank like an ill wind, but seeing the news in a three-line head on the front page of Diario de Ibiza still came as a rude, rude shock.
The news inside was brief, non-specific, but to the point. The action is in response to local police and Guardia Civil reports on the use and/or dealing of drugs within the venues during 2005-2006, and the allegation the clubs have done nothing to stop sf ca hotels and travel san francisco.
